THE LATEST JOBS NEWS FROM THE ISLE OF MAN BUSINESS COMMUNITY Two promotions in Dispute Resolution Team at Appleby Isle of Man Offshore law firm Appleby has announced two promotions in its Isle of Man offi ce. Mark Emery and Erin Trimble-Cregeen have been promoted to Senior Associates within the firm’s Dispute Resolution department. Mark joined Appleby in September 2010 as a trainee, qualifying two years later as a Manx Advocate. Since then, Mark has appeared regularly at all levels of the Isle of Man High Court of Justice and practices a broad range of commercial litigation. Mark has particular expertise in banking litigation and the practicalities of enforcing judgments in the Isle of Man, and acts for many of the banks on the Isle of Man in respect of their mortgage enforcement and the pursuit of personal guarantees. He was recommended by Legal 500 UK 2016 for his employment work, as well as Chambers UK 2017, which highlighted him as a “Notable Practitioner” with clients noting his “impressive and concise” presentation. Mark said: “I joined Appleby over eight years ago as a trainee. From day one the firm has enabled me to grow and develop my skills; it is an honour to be promoted to Senior Associate and to be taking the next step in my career.” Erin joined Appleby in October 2015 after gaining several years’ experience at an offshore firm in Guernsey. She practices a broad range of commercial litigation and specialises in trust disputes including advising trustees and beneficiaries on a wide range of contentious trust and estate issues. Having successfully completed the STEP Advanced Certificate in Trust Disputes, Erin is an associate member of STEP (Society of Trusts and Estate Practitioners), as well as ConTrA (The Contentious Trusts Association).  Erin commented: “I am delighted to be promoted to Senior Associate at Appleby after three successful years with the firm. Working at Appleby has enabled me to work on complex, multi-jurisdictional matters, and I look forward to many more years with the firm.” Mark Holligon, Partner and Group Head of the Dispute Resolution department in the Isle of Man, added: “Mark and Erin are two excellent advocates and this promotion is a testament to their hard work, professionalism and expertise. I’d like to congratulate them both on becoming Senior Associates.” 42 | Sure strengthens sales team in the Isle Of Man Sure has strengthened its sales team with two appointments. Zoe Richardson and Lyle Krause have both been recruited as account directors to create, nurture and maintain business relationships. Sure’s sales team is responsible for looking after the company’s business customers, from multinational firms to small businesses, and managing Sure’s range of corporate telecommunications solutions. As well as having owned her own business, Zoe brings over 20 years’ experience in finance, real estate and media. This experience has honed her negotiation techniques as she has expertise in strategic planning. Zoe also achieved an ILM Level 1 Leadership and Management this year. “I understand business and how to build relationships with my clients and chose Sure because of its fantastic reputation in an exciting industry. I’m looking forward to assisting, networking and meeting small business owners in the Isle of Man to really bring my role to life,” said Zoe. Lyle Krause holds a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree from the University of South Africa and has 10 years of experience in account management and client service; previously working for Mars, Nestle, Bio Oil and Federal Mogul. Lyle’s main experience is in the advertising sector but he has also been involved in three start-up businesses. These included creating a South African-specific business networking social media platform as well as conceptualising, developing and selling a flat–pack, branded school desk for rural schools in Africa. Lyle said: “I chose Sure because I view it as a nimble company that is well positioned to evolve with the fast pace of change in the ICT sector. It was also important to me that the company I joined shared my values. I’m excited by the opportunity to go out and tell businesses how customer- centric we are and about how we do things differently.
