Leisure, travel, charity events, social gatherings; the Island’s business community with their suits off. SIMCOCKS 70TH ANNIVERSARY EVENT RAISES FUNDS FOR MANX WORKSHOP FOR THE DISABLED Simcocks Advocates hosted a grand celebration of the firm’s 70th year anniversary, raising £1,600 for its charity of the year, Manx Workshop for the Disabled. The law firm, which was founded in 1949 by Howard Simcocks, held a dinner at the beautiful Woodbourne House for its staff and business associates. Friends and colleagues enjoyed a champagne reception to the music of 4Tissimo string quartet, then a meal, followed by entertainment. Simcocks’ Probate Manager, Laura Connolly, created a law themed cake for the occasion, which was auctioned off, adding to the total raised during the evening through generous donations from the guests. In a short speech, CEO Phil Games reminisced about his time working with Howard Simcocks and Mike Kerruish, who shaped the company during his time as director. Many amusing anecdotes were shared, and past staff and long-serving team members were lauded, including Carol Quayle, who has worked for the law firm for a remarkable 44 years. 50 |
